Medical assistant

This is a high paced private medical practice where you will work closely with the Doctor in a team approach setting.
Our preferred candidate would have a minimum of 1-2 year previous experience in medical front & back office with knowledge of medications and prescription refills requests process.

Front Office Duties: Patient check in/out, Verification of Benefits, prior authorizations, collect payments, enter patient demographics, medical records, schedule and confirm appointments, coordinate patient flow, answer and make calls, act as back up for other staff, ability to operate multi-line phone system.

Back Office Duties: Process medication requests, refills and work with eprescribe. Knowledge of standard medical care, medical terminology and safety hazards.
Dependability, professionalism, accuracy and effective communication skills The ability to multitask and remain focused in a fast paced environment
Responsibilities include but not limited to competency in taking vitals, inventory, and stocking rooms.
Assists with the preparation of equipment in the treatment room
Phone triage with appointment bookings and phone messages in the electronic medical record
Maintains timely flow of patients and records.
Screens patients for appropriate information and testing.
Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls including documenting in the electronic medical record. Instructs patient and/or family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
Notes tests and examination results in EHR.
Attends required office meetings
Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
Knowledgeable of HIPAA and OSHA
Ensures a clean and clutter free workspace and maintains clean and clutter free treatment rooms.
Performs related work as directed by supervisor, administrator, and physicians with no time sitting idle.
Assisting other MAs with care of patients as requested.
Other duties as assigned may include referrals, pharmacy calls, prior authorizations, etc.

**Must possess outstanding patient care and ability to multi-task in fast paced environment. Must possess excellent verbal and written skills, attention to detail and time management, proficiency in data entry and MS Word.**
